“Indecency”, “the nausea”, “abominable” ... The publication on the Tiktok network of a starter pack At the Effigies of Gisèle Pelicot Suscite a wave of indignation. “Beautiful desire to vomit”can we also read on the Instagram account “Ovairestherainbow”, Monday, April 14, in a publication that sums up the controversy.
The controversy, precisely: a surfer decided to promote a libertinism site by creating a 3D figurine by Gisèle Pelicot with the mention “Pre-order your gisèle”. The image, shared by several media before its abolition, represented Gisèle Pelicot dressed in pajamas, with several elements referring to the rapes of which she was the victim: a bed, a drug and a camera.
Solicited by AFP, the platform announces that it has deleted on Tuesday the user account, as well as the content. As a reminder, the author of an incentive to hatred, violence or discrimination faces a sentence of one year in prison and a 45,000 euros fine. Contacted by Franceinfo, the lawyers of Gisèle Pelicot did not wish to react.
Ces starter packs (“start -up packs” in French) have invaded social networks in recent days. The principle is of childish simplicity: you ask artificial intelligence (IA) to represent you in the form of a figurine. Then you choose objects that illustrate your lifestyle, your job, your passions (a garment, a book, a sports accessory, a car …). Everything is then carefully stored in a (false) plastic packaging, like a toy that would be found on the shelves of a store.
Gisèle Pelicot, whose ex-husband was sentenced in December to 20 years of criminal imprisonment for aggravated rape, after having drugged her and delivered to strangers for ten years, has become a feminist icon and a symbol of victims of rape. THE trial, at the end of 2024, had a worldwide impact.
