Courtney Henggeler, recently seen in the series “Cobra Kai”, has just published a text in which she announces her decision to end her acting career. She notably said she was tired by the incessant race to obtain roles.
It’s over. In a message posted on his substack account, relayed on Instagram, Courtney Henggeler announced to put an end to her career as an actress. “After more than 20 years of honorable combat in the world of cinema, I hung up the gloves on Friday. I called my agents and told them that I ended my career. I no longer want to be a cog in the machine, ”she writes.
“Playing comedy is the only thing I have done in my career. But not really the art or craft of performance. The only thing I have known is the fight. The struggle, perseverance, sometimes embellished with a strange role. Perhaps a replica or two in the series ‘Dr House’-‘sorry’ (that’s all. It was my reply. Great). I succeeded in her hand, ”she adds again.
Recently seen in the successful series “Cobra Kai”, Courtney Henggeler has mainly chained the little roles in her career, in series like “Jane the Virgin”, “NCIS”, “The Big Bang Theory” or “Royal Pains”, but also in the cinema in “Sex with friends” or “not so crazy”. The 46 -year -old actress is however tired of having the impression of fighting permanently after more than 20 years of career.
A voice in my head
“We survive by recovering the crumbs. We fill our glass of possible, our cups of illusion. Our plates are empty, but the golden egg hen haunts our thoughts. Today may be the day everything is going to change. Today may be the day I finally grab the golden egg hen, ”she continues. Also, Courtney Henggeler considers his participation in the series “Cobra Kai” as the most great opportunity of her career.
“I was in a series. Which is successful. I made money. My face was on the posters where I have been dreaming of being for 20 years. I turned for George Clooney. All this is the very definition of the golden egg hen, “she wrote, before clarifying that, despite this, she had been hungry. “For years, I have you this voice in my head which begged me to leave the profession. This voice that constantly eats away at you. Not because of the acting profession in herself. But from this frantic quest to obtain a role. What once seemed necessary, something I participated voluntarily, and that I celebrated, became suffocating, “she said.
Courtney Henggeler ends his text with a series of rhetorical questions. “What if we made the choice to believe that we have power?” What if we had it in ourselves from the start? What if it was we who had the role in hand? ”, She concludes.
