A landslide occurred during the end of last week in the Saguenay path, near the Deschênes stream, in the Arvida sector, not far from the Saguenay manor.
The path, which is prized by hikers and cyclists, was temporarily secured by the Civil Security teams in the city of Saguenay. The path remains open, but a call for caution is launched.
“It is not closed entirely. It is still possible to circulate there. That said, it’s really important, pedestrians, mountain bikes are very careful near this place, “warns the city spokesperson Dominic Arseneau.

An engineer of the encompassing firm went there to make a visual inspection, after an emergency call in connection with the field movements was made by the city of Saguenay.
“There are teams of engineers who will go to the site to start the investigation on what happened, but above all, what must be done for the correction,” continued Mr. Arseneau. A detour could be set up. The land belongs to the Rio Tinto company.
The multinational spokesperson responded to TVA Nouvelles in writing: “Rio Tinto was informed of the landslide located in the Saguenay trails, on the land belonging to Rio Tinto which are subject to the Entente with Saguenay city. Rio Tinto will continue to collaborate with the City for the next steps, including analyzes and work, to ensure public security, our priority. ”
