The Sûreté du Québec’s smuggling investigation service has carried out an operation in cannabis production in collaboration with the Posts of the SQ of Joliette, Autray (St-Gabriel-de-Brandon) and Matawinie (St-Michel-des-Saints).
Three men of 28, 37 and 57 were met by the investigators while they were on the scene of the searches when the police arrived.
They could notably face accusations under the Criminal Code for possession of drugs for trafficking, possession of cannabis for the sale and cultivation of cannabis.
The 50 -year -old was also arrested for possession of a prohibited firearm.
He remained detained to appear at the Joliette courthouse.
Searches are underway in two residences, a chalet and two vehicles located on Cheverny Street in St-Paul, the Rang St-André Sud-Ouest in St-Cuthbert and Le Chemin Claude in Ste-Émélie-de-l’Énergie.
-The authorities have discovered places of production with crop plants at different stages of their growth and drying.
The police seized:
- Over 50 kg of cannabis;
- Over 430 cannabis plants (plants and cuttings)
- Nearly 200 gr of haschich
- Over 110 gr of cocaine
- 2 vehicles entered in infraction goods (Automobile Audi and SUVs Ford, value of $ 21,500)
- 1 loaded handgun (revolver)
- 1 Haschich press
- Production equipment
- $ 970 in Canadian dollars
This operation follows an investigation of a few months.
Thirty police officers, including the tactical intervention group, are involved.
