The City of Victoriaville and Unlimited Ducks Canada (ICC) announce an important partnership which aims for life preservation and the ecological catering of the French colonial park. This project will transform the site into a protected natural space accessible to citizens.
This project wishes to meet the challenges posed by climate change by promoting water regulation, reducing heat islands and increasing urban biodiversity.
The restoration of the site will include the creation of wetlands, two large marshes, and a pedestrian path.
-“Victoriaville once again demonstrates its leadership in sustainable development by posing a concrete gesture for the creation of new wetlands and the preservation of our natural environments. This project is a unique opportunity to combine environmental conservation and access to nature for our citizens ”Antoine Tardif, mayor of Victoriaville
A subsidy of $ 74,292.50 was granted by the Ministry of the Environment, the fight against climate change, fauna and parks as part of the program of restoration and creation of wet and water environments (PRCMHH). This financial aid will make it possible to fully finance the feasibility study necessary for the implementation of the project.
The director of provincial operations of Quebec at CIC, Mélanie Deslong, says she is proud “to accompany the city of Victoriaville in this supporting initiative which will benefit the fauna, flora and the whole community. »»
