Accident involving a truck and a school bus in Saint-Lin-Laurentides

A collision this morning in Saint-Lin-Laurentides, involving a heavy truck, a vehicle and a school bus.

Around 7:15 am, the emergency services were requested at the scene of the , on the row of the North River in St-Lin-Laurentides.

The accident occurred at the 1979 address, while a school bus was immobilized in the west direction, with headlights, fires and stop panel as it should be, and students were preparing to land from the bus. A promenade vehicle was pending back to the bus when a heavy truck braked suddenly but could not avoid hitting this vehicle. The heavy truck has finished its race along the school bus, on the right side, passing the students’ exit door. The bus driver had the reflex to retain students inside the bus without which the consequences would have certainly been different. The trucker and driver of the walk vehicle were only injured slightly.

However, the police suspect that a distraction and/or speed could be involved since the heavy truck, pulling a trailer with a load, failed to stop at the sight of a school bus with its headlights, lights and stop panel in office. Reconstitutionists of the SQ are on site to analyze the scene. Road controllers are also on site to the conformity of the truck (inspection) and the driver. An investigation is underway. The trucker was not intoxicated by drugs or alcohol.
