RSA, energy check, taxes, gas prices and employer contributions … everything that changes on May 1

A beginning of the month which is no exception to the rule. This month of May will see the implementation of several changes for your wallet: revaluation of social aid, postponement of the energy in November, drop in the price repair of gas or even the end of the period allocated to the declaration of 2024 income for … The Parisian takes stock of all of these changes.

Revaluation of social aid

The amount of social aid was upgraded by 1.7 % on April 1, but these amounts will be applied from the May 5 payments, which are worth for the beneficiaries for the month of April. In particular are concerned: allowances, disabled adult allowance (AAH), active solidarity income (RSA), specific solidarity allowance (ASS), the daily support allowance of a person at the end of life (AJAP), or the activity bonus.

The postponed energy check

Be careful if you are one of the 5.7 million households which are beneficiaries of an energy check each year. Usually in the , rather in April or May, this year will be sent this year later. It should in your mailboxes in November, the Ministry of Industry and Energy announced at the end of March. This period is linked to the “late adoption” of the 2025 finance law, the ministry said.

“Energy suppliers are invited to be flexible and benevolence with regard to potentially eligible customers, in particular those previously beneficiaries” of the device, it is added. Because of this delay, energy checks – the amount of which ranges from 48 to 277 euros – will be used until March 31, 2027.

Drop in gas prices

Once this month is not customary, the price of gas is down. After an average price of 0.15305 Euro per kWh for cooking and hot water in April, the price increases to 0.14512 euros in May, a decrease of 5.15 %. Same thing for heating with an even more pronounced drop, going from 0.1241 euros to 0.11619 euro, which corresponds to a drop of 6.37 % over a month.

End of the income tax return

If you do not declare your taxes by internet and use the paper form to send the tax administration your income for the year 2024, then remember to file your declaration well before May 20, regardless of your department.

For those who opt like the majority of people for a dematerialized declaration, you must however refer to the department of your place of tax residence. Departments of departments 1 to 19 and abroad have until May 22, those of departments 20 to 54 until May 28, and those living in departments 55 to 976 will have to make their before June 5.

Employer contributions

The reduction in employer contributions is evolving this Thursday. The new reduction rate (also “value T”) is set at 0.3193 (instead of 0.3194) for companies with less than 50 employees and 0.3233 (instead of 0.3234) for companies with 50 or more employees. The employer contribution to unemployment insurance increases to the rate of 4 %, while the rate of the for accidents at , and occupational diseases increases to 0.50 %.
