SEOUL, Apr. 15 (Yonhap)-North Korea would have sent several hundred short-range ballistic missiles and hundreds of thousands of artillery shells to Russia to support her in her war against Ukraine, said the commander of the American armed forces in Indo-Pacific, Admiral Samuel Paparo, in Related Time (Local Hour) Ukrainian Kyiv Post.
According to the newspaper, during a meeting of the Armed Forces Commission in the United States Senate, the commander said he received new information concerning the supply of weapons from the North to Russia. “North Korea is said to have sent hundreds of thousands of artillery shells and several hundred short -range ballistic missiles to support the Russian war in Ukraine. In exchange, North Korea will receive advanced anti-aircraft defense, including surface-to-air missile systems and other technologies, “he said.
The types of systems that Russia has offered have not yet been confirmed, but he said that even second -level Russian systems could improve North capacity to defend itself in the face of air threats. Paparo recalled that this growing military collaboration goes far beyond the threats against Ukraine, since it can threaten stability in other regions, such as that of the United States, Japan and South Korea.
He described the alliance between Moscow and Pyongyang as a “convenience marriage”, a transactional symbiosis which is mutually beneficial to them since each state compensates for the weakness of the other. The technological partnership for armaments which led to the deployment of North Korean troops alongside the Russian army in late 2024 served as an alarm cry with the American and South Korean authorities.
