Natural gas distribution networks continue to be the target of copper thieves. The phenomenon has grown in recent years.
According to the communication unit of the Béjaïa gas and electricity distribution department, the company has “recorded flights affecting high -level gas columns and customers. In total, 11 flight acts are deplored during the first quarter of the current year.
These acts, followed by complaint deposits, are recorded mainly at the IGHzer Ouzarif urban pole, “said the same source, which will repair” on a case -by -case basis. The gas networks “continue to be weakened, also, by the phenomenon of attacks, caused by third parties and stakeholders on the public highway, causing the rupture or the disturbance of the gas supply to users”, regrets management. In a press release made public, Sonelgaz stressed that during the first quarter of the current year “85 assaults on natural gas distribution networks scattered in the territory of the wilaya and generated disturbances in gas energy supply for more than 200 customers”. The communication unit reassured that despite losses and repairs costs, their agents have occurred quickly in order to guarantee the continuity of the service.
