False hope for the insured of the Canton of Geneva. Complementary insurances had so far Tuesday to decide whether they accepted the price model set up by the Association of Physicians of the Canton of Geneva (AMGE). An ultimatum posed by the Minister of Health Pierre Maudet, who did not allow us to lead to an agreement.

Since the beginning of the year, the majority of additional insurance has no more systematically reimbursed care in private clinics in Geneva, due to a disagreement with doctors on the pricing model. Hundreds of patients are therefore forced to repel their operation if they do not want to pay their pockets, or, in the case of pregnant women, for example, to go to another hospital.

Non -compliant with the requirements

Today, the Swiss Insurance Association (ASA) has returned its response to the canton. It refuses to adhere to the pricing structure of the amge in a transitory manner. She considers that this solution is not considered to be in accordance with the requirements of Finma, the Federal Authority for the Surveillance of the Financial Markets.

“Any possible commitment of an insurer in a transitional solution largely depends on the signals that finma transmits to insurers as to its provision not to initiate a posteriori surveillance measures. To date, no signal going in this direction has reached us on the part of Finma”, argues the ASA in a letter that the RTS was able to consult.

Status quo for insured

It is therefore the status quo for Geneva insured. For the time being, only 40% of them are systematically reimbursed by their additional insurance. These are patients who are at Assura, Mutuel and SWICA group, who have already accepted the pricing model of the AMGE.
