The Brussels Council Chamber decided on Wednesday to prolong the preventive detention of the former companion of a childcare worker in a pedocrime case in a crèche from the Free University of Brussels (ULB) in Ixelles on Wednesday, the prosecution said on Thursday. The two ex-spouses were placed under arrest warrant last January. The childcare worker must also pass soon in front of the council chamber.
During the year 2024, the Brussels prosecutor’s office was informed of the existence of messages exchanged on a social network, which mentioned facts of manners having taken place in a crèche. The case was taken very seriously and an investigation started immediately. At the end of 2024, it was possible to identify the crèche concerned, attached to the ULB and located on the Campus du Solbosch in Ixelles, and two suspects: a 24-year-old childcareman and her ex-companion aged 40. A judicial investigation was then opened on January 17, 2025 for acts of pedocrime. Searches have been carried out and the suspects were placed under arrest warrant. According to the first elements of the investigation, between October 2020 and October 2022, the forties had introduced himself into the crèche where the one who was then his companion worked. They would have attached to the sexual integrity of five children aged 18 to 36 months.
