It was planned that a stability expert is going this Monday to take stock of the situation, and eventually recommends measures to be taken. During the night from Saturday to Sunday, the occupants had heard cracking, and these disturbing noises had continued during the day on Sunday. Cracks have appeared over the hours and the rescue area has been alerted. On the spot, the firefighters had estimated that the risk of collapse was real and decided to evacuate. The occupants, in an emergency, could have been relocated to family members.
This Monday around 10 a.m. Monday, while several people were on site, including the municipal services and some occupants, the gable of the building was finally collapsed. The building found itself ripped off and it was to be feared that other parts, finding itself in unstable balance, in turn sag.
The bourgmestre Emmanuel Burton and the alderman of the accommodation Marc Druez went there. Contacts were made with the CPAS to try to find a solution for the inhabitants, given the negative evolution of the situation.
Traffic in the rue du Culot, which was only allowed in the direction of the climb since Sunday evening, has been completely cut. In the other direction, automotive traffic was diverted to rue de la Drève.
The path passing along the work to descend to the village church was also closed: Monday after the collapse of the gable of the building, it appeared that the plate of the path was also beginning to slide. In an emergency, earth trucks have been ordered to try to stabilize it.
