Kith has officially unveiled its Slip-On Basketball Printed in 3D in collaboration with adidasadding a stylish touch to the innovative climacool silhouette launched in Kith shops on May 1. After his recent collaboration With Adidas for a football collection in April, the brand of Ronnie Fieg brings its characteristic aesthetic to what could be the most technologically advanced shoe of the Three Stripes brand this year.
The Kith X Adidas Futuristic Climacool retains the basic color “Off White” from the consumer version, but is distinguished by a gradient of three shades of gray which replace the tone bands on the side. This subtle but distinctive change highlights Kith’s minimalist approach in this collaboration.
What makes climacool really revolutionary is its construction. This Slip-on basketball is the first Adidas shoe entirely printed in 3D and available on a large scale. Its trellis structure creates an extraordinarily light design which perfectly wraps the foot while offering 360 degree ventilation. With its flexible heel pads and its integrated arch support, this shoe without laces marries the shape of the foot like a second skin.
Initially marketed last year in a very limited quantity on the Adidas Confirmed Platform, the global release date of the Slip-On Kith X Adidas Climacool, in its standard “Off White” color, is not yet confirmed. Collaboration with Kith is currently available exclusively in Kith stores.
This collaboration reflects the growing commitment of Adidas in 3D printed shoes technology. While the brand was a pioneer in the field of intermediate soles printed in 3D with its 4D range several years ago, climacool goes even further by applying this innovation to the whole shoe. This approach eliminates traditional seam methods and assembly, which could revolutionize the manufacture of sneakers.
Jonathan Cran, director of Kith Toronto, unveiled this collaboration in preview on social networks. Timing suggests that Adidas could provide other climacool collaborations with other lifestyle brands in the coming months.
