Romuald Deters, the working ankle of Caen South Basket

After following a friend in basketball at 9 years old, Romuald Deters never left the Caen Basket South (Formerly AS Guérinière) since. 46 years old, he is Today club president, coach, volunteer et player.

A young coach

It was at 16 that Romuald began to become a volunteer for the club. He then takes care of the “chicks” twice a week plus a Match every weekend. Next to it, he continues to train at the same rate. Over the years, Romuald has increasingly involved in the club. At 28, he became Sports manager For the club and takes charge of training planning.

“Legends” player

Today, the club has about 420 players and around thirty permanent volunteers. Romuald plays in the seniors 3 team, “Legends” As they like to be called laughing. As a volunteer, he takes care of the coaches and is responsible for the Event management within the club.

We are the third largest Calvados club, but we remain a family club.

Basketball for all

Dad of a girl with mental disability, Romuald wished to allow her to play in the club like any other child. He then launched the section ” health basketball», A dozen years ago. At the start, it was alone with his daughter that Romuald begins training. After six months, they are joined by two other people. The section now hasa twenty members.

I wanted them to be integrated like the other players. They train on Saturday morning at the same time as other teams.
