During the summer of 2005, the Boulazac Basketball Dordogne entered Pro B. Xavier Dalmont, who previously followed football, must suddenly “learn” basketball, since the matches will now be broadcast live on France Bleu Périgord. The start of a 19 -year -old epic for the journalist, who necessarily keeps significant memories.
The BBD for a professional level for twenty years, what does that inspire you?
I would not have imagined it in 2005. It is a considerable feat given the sports landscape and the economic context in Dordogne. And I don’t know if we measure it well today ‘The trigger is the Palio [Ndlr : à partir de septembre 2008]. But appropriating a 5,000 -seat room has not been a long quiet river. It was necessary to leave the cocoon and the cauldron that was the agora, with often almost 2,000 people in it. For a long time, the Palio has not been filled. The BBD had to save its skin a few times, sometimes believed in the playoffs before collapsing ‘
What are your first memories of Pro B?
I had already made points on a few Boulazac games in N2 and N1. But retransmitting them in full, it is something else. I had to work a lot. John Douaglin (BBD coach from 2004 to 2008) helped me a lot. The first season, on the dynamics of the climb, was quite nice with the Bertorelle, Wagner, Conderanne ‘but at the beginning, I was trapped by the rule of 24 seconds of possession, which energizes the game. As in football, I attacked foot on the floor but I episphyxi. I finished burnt!
What games seemed to you to comment on?
A huge defeat in Pro B in Nanterre, endless (2010-2011). The BBD was dropped and I had to find the words so that the listener will not win! In the literal sense, there was also defeat after four extensions in Gravelines (February 2018). It was exhausting. Behind, in addition, I have 1h30 drive for a short night in Lille before flying very early the next morning.
The first striking moment of the club in Pro B, what is it?
The rise in Pro A in 2012 and especially the Darryl Monroe buzzer in the first Playoff match against Boulogne-sur-Mer. It was crazy! Behind, he turns to the Boulonnais bench, Sylvain Lautié runs to intervene ‘but all that season actually. The climb acquired during the beautiful Limoges – Fos that I comment on in Beaublanc, with the Boulazac players in the stands and being able to support the CSP while my whole family is Limougeaude ‘The final in Bercy, of course, and especially the party the next evening on the forecourt of the Agora. I remember the childish smile of Jacques Auzou, very happy because her baby arrived among the grown -ups.
And worse memory, what is it?
-The beautiful of the 2016 semi-final in Évreux, with this basket from behind the Bastien Pinault panel, which we will see this Tuesday evening. At that time, I am in denial, I don’t want to believe that it is valid. I think I was very bad! I also remember a match where the BBD leads to Fos ten seconds from the end and I make the mistake of saying that it is won. Arnaud Kerckhof misses two free throws, Boulazac is joined and also loses extension. I never forgot it, it served as a lesson.
Évreux is also the place of your assault two years ago …
I absolutely do not want the club, which had quickly apologized, but yes! This supporter falls on me in full live to come to the hands, I am very afraid and I insult it ‘and I do not imagine the resonance box behind. It must be said that press zones are less and less protected in theaters’
You who have attended a lot, what is LNB’s best press gallery?
I like Dijon or Chalon-sur-Saône. I also liked Limoges when we were the opposite of the locker room. But the best, now, comfort and vision level, is undoubtedly the Palio. Yet I moaned up when we went from the parquet to the first floor!
La Rochelle, by far! Others are poorly made or poorly placed. But in Saint-Vallier or Aix-Maurienne, for example, they do with their means and the leaders are adorable.
19 seasons, these are also woven emotional ties …
Yes, especially with the coaches: Douaglin, Lautié, Claude Bergeaud, a figure of French basketball ‘but also Philippe Ruivet and Antoine Michon: I was very struggled when they were landed. Antoine, I immediately had a thought for him and his Roman Leroy assistant at the time of the second climb in 2017.
Not to mention the players, especially Thomas Dubiez who has been your consultant several times …
I have always thought that his number 7 should be hung on the ceiling of the Palio ‘one day I will install it by going on his shoulders! In Evreux, in 2016, I am sad because it is also the end of the career of “Dudu”. When I found myself in the same hotel as the BBD on the move, I ate separate but he always came to chat at the end of the meal. It was super elegant. Afterwards, he was an excellent consultant, because he knows basketball by c’ur, he has hindsight, humor ‘but on the air, while the vouvoyer was rather rigorous, he spent 40 minutes to tu me! And on a match where Boulazac was on the street, I lost it in the second half. No matter what I was restarted, he was already in the shower! We had good moments of fun but the biggest laughs on a match was with Arnaud Kerckhof, very good consultant too. Our looks had met at the time of a dead time ‘
