A Golden Sculptor to pay tribute to Dédé Fortin

Roger Langevin’s proposal was retained by a selection committee after a project call launched on a Quebec scale “for artistic quality, evocative force and humanism of his approach, in perfect resonance with the inheritance of Dédé Fortin”.

“A artist recognized for his humanist and monumental sculptures, Roger Langevin will offer a creation inspired by the solidarity and committed spirit of Dédé Fortin”, said in a press release about the artist of more than 50 years of career, who notably produced the tribute to the author Dany Laferrière in 2020.

“The sculpture, faithful to the vision of Roger Langevin, is both a tribute to the artistic and human contribution of André Dédé Fortin and a call for solidarity and cultural resistance, ​​dear to the artist. The project will put forward sustainable materials, respectful of the environment and a contemporary and timeless aesthetic, “argues the project managers on the artist’s approach who now resides in Rimouski where he was a teacher at UQAR for twenty years.

The disclosure of the work will take place on November 22, the birthday of André Fortin, during a public ceremony at the Normandin centennial park. “This work will enrich the cultural heritage of the region and will embody, for future generations, the vibrant memory of Dédé”, assure the instigators.
