Originally from Nice, the architect Frédéric-Paul Goux, who died in early January of a pulmonary embolism, left an important mark on the Côte d'Azur.
“Chance played a role in my professional direction, thanks to the fame of my house in Biot, designed two decades ago. This attracted the attention of wealthy individuals wishing to build their own villas. “opened up new opportunities, while I was mainly focused on public projects such as shopping centers and schools”he notably declared to Forbes in November 2023, during an interview.
“Visionary architect”
He actually, at the start of his career, before imagining villas from Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat to Cannes, via Nice and Mougins, worked on the construction of the gymnasium of the Pablo-Picasso college, in Vallauris-Golfe -Juan, and on that of the César college, in La-Roquette-sur-Siagne. For which, moreover, he mentioned in our columns, in 2003, the desire to “keep the village school spirit”especially with “an architecture integrated into the village”: tiled roof, respect for local colors for the coating and also respect for the scale of the houses in the village.
His brother recently greeted, on his social networks, “a visionary architect”who has it “always supported in his projects as a researcher, entrepreneur, writer. We were very complementary. I was his brake, he was my accelerator. […] His energy, enthusiasm and passion were overflowing. Everyone loved spending time with the man we nicknamed Mr Positive. With him, on a construction site or in life, there were no problems but only solutions. With him, nothing seemed impossible to us.” Frédéric-Paul Goux died on January 3, at the age of 52, of a pulmonary embolism following a devastating flu, his relatives announced.
