Nintendo Switch 2, will the Joy-Cons have analog sticks with Hall Effect?

An increasingly credible rumor suggests that the Nintendo Switch 2 would adopt analog sticks equipped with Hall Effect technology for its Joy-Con. This innovation could finally solve the annoying problem of drift, a critical issue that plagued the first Switch’s controllers, causing unintended movements in games and numerous user complaints. We remind you that Hall Effect technology uses magnetic sensors to detect the movements of the sticks, thus eliminating physical contact between the mechanical components. This significantly reduces wear and tear over time, preventing deterioration leading to drift. This solution is already used by some third-party controller manufacturers, but this would be the first time it has been implemented in a Nintendo console. As indicated on Reddit, the rumor comes from the leaker NextHandheld, who had already anticipated precise details on the Joy-Con of the Nintendo Switch 2, such as the larger size and the addition of a colored ring around the sticks (blue or pink). With the official announcement of the console, this information was confirmed, increasing the credibility of the other claims.

In addition to Hall Effect technology, the new Joy-Cons could include metal SL and SR buttons, larger ZR and ZL triggers (but not analog), and ergonomic improvements. The leaker also suggested that older Joy-Cons could be compatible with the Switch 2, but with some limitations, such as not being able to charge them directly.
