PlayStation studios discover the cancellation of their games by the media!

Sony recently made headlines following worrying revelations regarding the management of its studios. It seems that several PlayStation Studios teams found out about the cancellation of their projects at the same time as the public. It’s via an article from Bloomberg, written by Jason Schreierthat this information broke, shocking the teams concerned.

According to Jeff Grubb, an investigator on the subject, the studios involved, such as Bend et Bluepointlearned the news of their games being canceled the hard way, by reading the same news as everyone else. A destabilizing situation, as Grubb points out, who adds: “Teams come to work today wondering what they’re going to do next. » The decision took everyone by surprise. All this, without any prior warning from Sony.

Now these studios find themselves in a complicated situation, forced to propose new ideas to PlayStation in the hope of seeing their projects approved. But according to Grubb, the type of project that is now likely to be approved has changed dramatically. “It used to be that you brought an idea to PlayStation knowing the response would probably be ‘a service game, with God of War, of course.’ Now it’s not so simple.”he explains.

Studios will have to start from scratch, designing new concepts, while having no certainty about what PlayStation is really looking for. Considerable pressure which turns this situation into a real headache for developers.
