They were chosen by Secours Populaire to pose in front of the photographer. Wise as a picture, this couple willingly lends itself to the directives of the professional who looks at them with a discerning eye. Naturally Marie-Christine places her head on the shoulder of Mario, her husband, while he puts his arm around her waist. The pose is pretty, but the photographer still intervenes to correct the gentleman’s outfit. Click-clack, it’s in the box. “I come from the countryside, so I’m not used to all this stuff, but it’s a great experience. I’m a disabled person, so I’m not often invited to an event like this, so it’s nice” explains Mario, a little embarrassed by all this attention around him.

A dozen photographers from the region have today put their know-how at the service of a charitable project, initiated by the French Federation of Photography and Image Professions, FFPMI, in association with Secours Populaire.
This Sunday throughout France, and at the Halle aux Toiles in Rouen for the first year, beneficiaries of the association which helps people in difficulty, had themselves photographed free of charge. The purpose of the operation is to leave with a nice souvenir, and why not a valued self-image.
These are families who are at Secours Populaire and who need help, and who do not always have the possibility of opening the door to our studios, they do not have the means or they do not dare to to their situation. There we allow them to do an activity like everyone else and to enjoy” explains Benjamin Desolle, photographer and FFPMI member.

Before laying under the spotlights of the photo studio set up for the occasion, the models have the right to a beauty treatment. Hairstyle, makeup, families spend half an hour in the soon-to-be expert hands of hairdressing and aesthetics students.

There are people who don’t like having their photo taken. We are here to bring them beautiful light, advice, and ultimately they discover themselves through photography. There are beautiful emotions, children who discover themselves with big smiles, and parents who say to themselves that they have a beautiful family photo there.

After each session, the photos are selected, retouched, printed, and delivered in a folder. Each family leaves with a draw, and a little more self-confidence.
