Already 6 murders in 2025 in Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands

Since January 1, 2025, there have been six violent deaths, which is cause for concern. Even if the case of the young minor stabbed on the sidelines of the Pointe-à-Pitre carnival on Sunday 12 is remembered as being the first, we learned that previously, already on January 2, another victim had been beaten. shots without further detail and ultimately did not survive. Having since died in hospital care, the author is still on the run.

6 deaths in just two weeks

Last Tuesday, the body of a man in his seventies was discovered on a beach in Saint-François. This therefore brings to 3 cases for mainland Guadeloupe. If we take into account the events that occurred last week in Saint-Martin, the shootings in the districts of Orléans and Grand-Case, 3 additional deaths are added to the macabre list.

6 murders or assassinations in just two weeks, when we know that the average last year was 1 every 11 days, an already enormous figure.

Time for solemn returns

The authorities are therefore on alert, particularly during this festive period. The usual formal back-to-school hearings are to be held in the coming days in Basse-Terre at the Court of Appeal, and on Friday 24 at the judicial center in Pointe-à-Pitre. As usual, the main officials will be present. The opportunity to take stock of the past year, in criminal matters but not only.

To be complete on the subject, don't miss Monday January 20, at 6:20 a.m. in the morning “Let’s Talk Truth”. The Attorney General of Guadeloupe, Eric Maurel will be the guest of Laura Latchan on RCI.
