Noam Hanot, 17, a piano prodigy and Schubert fan, performing at Nouveau relax

Accompanied by a piano, Noam Hanot, 19, performed at Nouveau relax, Sunday January 12. Daily Jhm went to meet this genius of classical music.

Being 19 years old and being a piano prodigy does exist… Noam Hanot is the proof. Originally from Biesles, he holds a diploma from the music conservatory. “Without the conservatory, I certainly would not be studying music today,” he would like to thank them in the preamble.

For more than an hour, he performed (for the first time) on the stage of the Nouveau relax de Chaumont, Sunday January 12. A concert to benefit polio vaccination and organized by the Rotary Club of Chaumont and Rotaract.

He initially wasn’t destined to play the piano in his life: “I played guitar for two weeks at the start of my teenage years, then I stopped to focus on the piano.” The change therefore takes place quite quickly. “It all started at nine years old with two teachers who were very good. It was here, in Chaumont, that everything was done. The Harmony Orchestra allowed me to discover conducting. » For ten years, he has been playing the piano and is aware of his areas of improvement. “There is a lot of progress to be made and good foundations have been established. Work is no secret. »

Just after the conservatory, he decided to move towards the University of in musicology in 2023. Understand, the scientific study of music. “I study music in many areas: conducting, piano and everything related to musical theory (analysis, writing),” he explains.

It was in 2023 that he founded the University Orchestra, an initiative which testifies to his commitment to music and his ability to bring together talents, “since there was no orchestra at the university” .

In piano training until 2031

“I left for musicology training which will last another six years. There are a multitude of diplomas to obtain and secure a position in a conservatory and a career as a conductor or instrumentalist. I would rather like to go into orchestra conducting. » He therefore imagines his future with two hats: “teaching in a conservatory and having an orchestra to conduct”.

During his two hours of performance, he offered a timeless show, shared between “Les impromptus” by Franz Schubert and many others. “I like French music, both Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Camille Saint-Saëns and Gabriel Fauré. In orchestral terms, Gustave Mahler, an Austrian, wrote nine absolutely divine and timeless symphonies.”

This Sunday, in addition to covers of Fauré, Ravel and Grieg, he offered his own creation with “Improvisation: Perséides”. This first scene, at the piano, was a real success for him. When it comes to being a prodigy ahead of his age, Mozart is the typical example. It was at the age of six that the Austrian composed his first works.

Noam Hanot, with his whole life ahead of him. But in the meantime, it will be on March 23, at 3 p.m., with the Metz university orchestra, in the Saint-Joseph church in Montigny-lès-Metz with the theme: “Film music”. The appointment is made to follow, perhaps, a future great orchestra director.
