Pro D2, League disciplinary committee: Samuel Marques, the ASBH scrum half, will not be suspended

Samuel Marques was accused of having spit on a hostess during Night, where he was voted best Pro D2 player. Meeting this Wednesday, January 15, the disciplinary committee of the National Rugby League ultimately did not impose any match suspension on the player. He was, however, fined €3,000.

During Rugby Night in September 2024, where he was voted best Pro D2 player, Samuel Marques was accused of having spit on a hostess who had not, however, filed a complaint against him. Pinned by the National Rugby League, the scrum-half faced a penalty of up to ten suspension matches.

A lesser evil

He was interviewed this Wednesday, January 15 by the authorities of the disciplinary committee. The verdict came a few hours later: Samuel Marques will ultimately not be suspended, but he will have to pay a fine of €3,000. A lesser evil for the player and his group, the Portuguese international being one of the major executives of the team. He will therefore be on the scoresheet for the match this Friday, January 17, at Soyaux Angoulême.

Nkinsi still waiting to know if he will be able to play again

For his part, second row Hans Nkinsi still does not know whether or not he will be able to play again. On December 16, he was sentenced by the Béziers court to one year in prison for domestic violence; the player appealed this decision. This appeal being suspensive, he has the right to replay. The club's leaders have still not commented on his fate.
