On the walls of the Raymonde-Vincent room at Équinoxe in Châteauroux, 28 pairs of eyes observe you as you enter. The figures, big gentlemen, were almost all painted for the exhibition, the work of Guillaume Ledoux. The singer of the Issoldun group Blankass has also been a painter for almost 30 years. “In our memories, things are often a little distorted. The places we saw when we were kids seem much smaller as adults… That’s what my people are, they’re very big, like childhood memories. » These guys like big Mathieu or old Roger wear timeless clothes, “we don’t know what era they come from, they are just smiling, a little melancholy even.”
“I have long thought that Music and painting were separate”
Old clocks, cupboard doors or bills from another time serve as supports for the paintings. “About fifteen years ago, I bought some old bills in a flea market, I drew a man on them and I thought it looked good. […] I find it moving to see what people bought a century ago,” explains the one who received artistic training in high school.
A double hat
Although he knows Équinoxe from the stage side, this is the first time he has exhibited his works. Music and painting, two passions that allow him to convey messages. “I thought for a long time that music and painting were separate, but ultimately I don’t think so. We use several tools to show people what we have in us. And in my case, it’s often with a big smile. […] But I have no pretensions, for me I’m not a painter, I’m a guy who draws people. »
