Unprecedented sale at the auction house Morlaix next December 3.

Part of the studio fund of the painter of Tréguier Yvon Le Corre (1939-2020) will be put at auction under the hammer of master François Dupont.

This entire sale represents 84 lots entrusted by his widow, Azou Le Corre.

Teacher of Titouan Lamazou

Born on October 7, 1939 in Saint-Brieuc, after an early childhood in Trégor, Yvon Le Corre discovered the sea on the banks of the Rance. At the age of 16, he entered the School of Rennes Fine Arts from where he was fired six months later.

Returning from a trip to Yugoslavia, he joined the Claude Bernard school in Paris which prepares him for the drawing professorship. He obtained the Capes, taught plastic arts in Paris then Morlaix before leaving Brittany for Marseille.

He is also known for having trained the famous navigator in drawing Titouan Lamazou, who took a lot of inspiration from his style. He lived in one of the oldest houses in Tréguier where he had his workshop.

Boat restorer

Navigator, designer, painter and for his last works typographer and printer, Yvon le Corre was passionate about discoveries and encounters.

Passionate, he has cultivated an aesthetic of authenticity in the choice of his boats that he has restored, had built or operated under sail: the Smack Iris (1902), Elibouane (1980), inspired by the sardine boats of the 1890s, Gial Joyce Jersey cutter built in 1855.

Travel diaries

By publishing in 1978 Happy who like Iris, he gave impetus to the return to fashion of the travel diary illustrated in the mode of the logbook since his navigations in Ireland, Portugal, Antarctica.

Up to 3,000 euros

Estimates for this sale range from €40 for the engravings to €3,000 for the most monumental of his oils on canvas, an abstract triptych from 2007 entitled One Life (117 x 326 cm).
