An ode to the women of the village and more broadly to those of Champagne, “La Jongleuse de bubbles” was installed on the roundabout on the main axis of Moussy, this Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
This metal sculpture, four meters high, is the work of Nell, an artist of English origin based in the Lot. In her work she “seeks to bring matter to life by evoking these values that appeal to me: movement, suspension, balance, grace…”. In 2022, she participated in Vign'art, creating a work for Monthelon. His sculpture, which symbolizes the cycle of life, remained there, since the town purchased it at the end of the festival. It was after falling under his spell that the elected officials of Moussy decided to call on the artist.
In place of the bottle dedicated to John Gadret
The bottle that has stood on the roundabout since 2010 “had been carried out by the villagers on the occasion of the Tour de France, for the passage of a child from the village in the peloton”recalls Virginie Ruelle, municipal councilor, referring to John Gadret. The bottle having had its day, it was necessary to find a replacement. “We wanted something else. We thought of a sculpture of Nell. We wanted a work to welcome, which gives a feeling of happinessdetails Mayor François Lejeune. The first sketch she sent us was unanimously approved by the municipal council. »
The decision is made, the order placed, for a budget of €20,000, to which is added the repair of the roundabout (€10,000). Eighteen months later, “The Bubble Juggler” was sealed in concrete. Now it remains to arrange its setting. “We are going to add light and vegetation”promises the mayor.
