The Nikon Small World is a prestigious annual competition that highlights the art of photomicrography, a technique for capturing images of small details invisible to the naked eye. Every year since 1975, the competition receives thousands of submissions from various countries. A jury composed of experts in microscopy and photography evaluates the images on criteria such as creativity, composition, technique and visual impact. Images are then selected for their ability to capture intricate details with clarity and precision. For this year 2024, the jury chose several pre-selected photos from around 2,100 applications.
