Takashi Murakami: exhibition of the Japanese artist at the Perrotin gallery in , our photos

Takashi Murakami is back at the Galerie Perrotin from October 15 to November 23, 2024. Five years after taking over this famous Parisian gallery, the famous Japanese contemporary art artist presents a new personal exhibition highlighting around fifteen of his recent works to discover for free at the Perrotin Matignon gallery.

We know well Takashi Murakami (born in 1962) for its smiling flowers, its tangy colors and its pop universe from the world of manga. This time, for new personal exhibition in , the contemporary Japanese artist presents a series of recent paintingsto be discovered exclusively within the walls of the Perrotin Matignon gallerylocated in the very chic 8th arrondissement of the capital.

To discover October 15 to November 23, 2024this small artistic installation highlights some of the favorite characters coming straight from the imagination of Takashi Murakami. There are in particular Mr. DOBthe iconic character created by the artist in 1996, but also his famous panda or even Miss Good Things et Mr. Bad Thingsthe two little beings embodying good and evil in a kawaii version. Let us also mention the quirky octopus that the artist sometimes wears on his head in the form of a hat.

We can also admire the Yume Lionthe unmissable lion cub designed by the Japanese artist, presented here on a painting barely fifty centimeters high. A self-portrait of Takashi Murakami alongside POM, his dog who died in 2020, is also revealed.

The Perrotin Matignon Gallery also exhibits two circular paintings of the artist where dozens of colorful flowers unfold as well as “ZuZaZaZaZaZa Rainbow” ; a work revealing seven colored vertical bands aligned with, each time, the same trace of white liquid.

These works and icons, embodying different moments in Takashi Murakami’s career, are painted on distinct wooden panels, cut out following the contours of the characters (” shaped canvas »).

In total, only 15 works – exhibited in two different rooms – are to be admired. Also, don’t expect a lot of exposure. The visit is done quickly, but the pleasure of admiring these creations made by Takashi Murakami remains intact.
