Marc Silva paints and plays the Yidaki and practices the dot painting technique used by Australian Aborigines.

The Aussie association is organising an exhibition on Australian Aboriginal inspiration: Philippe Bergeon, the owner, is inviting enthusiasts to the site of the Wallaby Bennett’On park in Dému. Marc Silva will be exhibiting there from Saturday 14 September to Thursday 31 October. Born in Lesparre-Médoc, in Gironde, Marc Silva is passionate about Australia. He draws inspiration for his paintings from Aboriginal art and culture, and has also been playing the yidaki, the Aboriginal didgeridoo, for over 25 years. The public will be able to discover his use of “dot painting”, the best-known Aboriginal art technique.

On Friday, September 27, Marc Silva will offer a free didgeridoo initiation open to all. The didgeridoo is made of eucalyptus in the northern territories of Australia. Termites hollow out the trunk of the eucalyptus tree along its entire length by feeding on the sap5. Its length varies from 100 to 180 cm on average, and its diameter from 5 to 30 cm. The mouthpiece is made of beeswax to bring it back to an easily playable diameter close to 30 mm. And on Wednesday, October 30, he will offer an introductory workshop on the “dot painting” technique.

Information on 06 83 74 07 44; or on 06 80 70 68 56. Free entry from Monday to Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The artist will be present on Saturday, September 28 and Wednesday, October 30.
