The team at the Douarnenez day hospital had known for several years that they would be moving to new premises. This has been the case since last spring, as part of the restructuring of the site. “We had the idea of decorating the walls to provide a warmer setting for patients who sometimes come for half a day: we set aside money collected in 2021 and 2022 by the M’Ys Rose walk to allow that,” underlines Anne-Sophie Le Bris-Michel, hematologist at the hospital center.
Appeal to the five senses
The big day took place this Friday, September 27 with the installation of six frescoes created by graphic designer Marianne Larvol, famous in Douarnenez for her mermaids and her sardine fishing trail. Representing Douarnenez, La Palud beach or Cap-Sizun, emblematic places in the hospital’s population area, they have been designed to allow escape and relaxation. “With the idea of taking care, we want to recreate a pleasant atmosphere appealing to the five senses: Marianne’s work enchants the view,” adds the professional, who believes in the importance of art. “It was Audrey Le Hir, a nurse whose children rub shoulders with mine at school, who told me about the decoration project: I came to see these large white walls and discuss the team’s expectations before launching », says Marianne Larvol, delighted to work for a local public service. His style of photomontages, mixing views of yesterday and today, brings a nice touch to the building. “For the healthcare team, it is also important to take ownership of new premises, we have the chance to choose our working environment and make it a pleasant place,” notes Aurélia Massoubras, healthcare executive.
Pink October at the hospital
This installation of frescoes marks the launch, at Douarnenez hospital, of the month of Pink October. The establishment will be lit up in pink every night, and a giant mosaic representing professionals in pink will be on display. They will participate in various solidarity sporting events, the KempeR’ose, the M’Ys Rose or the Hand rose of Douarnenez. A large forum and conference day will be organized on October 24, with the presence of associations and structures from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and at 6 p.m. the conference of Alexandra Husta, who after two years of treatment for her breast cancer , Alexandra Husta cycled around Europe alone.
