the essential
The player from 4Padel Toulouse Colomiers and the player from Toulouse Padel Club won a new national title on September 15.
“It was the first time I played in such a special final.” Triple title holder (each time alongside Alix Collombon), Léa Godallier is not about to forget these 2024 French championships.
“There were a lot of emotions. First of all because we were leading 6-1, 4-1 and found ourselves winning 6-4 in the deciding set. Then, in the second set , I injured myself by twisting my ankle with a noise which was not pretty at all. On arrival, more fear than harm because it was only a sprain. My teammate had it too. sore wrist. So, between the fighting spirit of our opponents and our respective injuries, I am very happy and very proud to have won this new title”, summarizes the 4Padel Toulouse Colomiers player.
The Godallier-Collombon duo goes beyond the purely sporting framework. “Alix is a friend, she’s the one I call when I have a problem. She is also the godmother of my son Manoa. On the ground, everything is suddenly simpler. The understanding is natural , easy, fluid”, insists the one who will follow up with the Greenweez Paris Major at Roland-Garros (September 28-October 6).
Blanqué: “We manage to raise our level every time”
For his part, Bastien Blanqué obtained his first three national titles (2017, 2018, 2019) with Johan Bergeron. On Strasbourg soil, he won his sixth crown, the third in a row alongside Thomas Leygue, with a score of 6-2, 6-4. “Every year, the level increases at these French championships. We knew we were expected with Thomas. But we really did a good job. We have been playing together for four years and each time we manage to raise our level of play. We know each other by heart. And even in difficult times, we manage not to get angry,” explains the Toulouse Padel Club player.
The two friends are also entered in the Greenweez Paris Major. A meeting for which they inherited an invitation for the final draw. But the triple French champions will not be side by side: Bastien finds Johan Bergeron; Thomas is in a duo with the Argentinian Ignacio Piotto.
