Colorful works by artist Emma Seferian on display in from September 26

A graduate of the School of Fine Arts in 2020, Emma Seferian, artist and DJ, opened her studio in (Finistère). “My medium is color” which she deploys in paintings, tapestries, carpets and ceramics.

In his exhibition Velvet Songs that she presents at Phakt, the young artist presents sparkling, shiny materials, which she stages with everyday objects, as in an interior. We hear romantic songs, “but where the loved one is replaced by desire, or memories. I recorded them while accompanying myself on the piano, on the organ.” We can hear songs by Mylène Farmer or even I’m an empty house without you by Corinne Marchand from the film Cleo from 5 to 7.

“Telling your own story”

Of Armenian origin, Emma Seferian draws inspiration for her paintings from her personal history, from artisanal know-how passed down by her grandmothers and her mother, but also from traditional colorful biblical illuminations. “who create dreams.” Each of his paintings is associated with song lyrics, “Everyone is then free to tell their own story.” By revisiting everyday elements, Emma Seferian questions our relationship with objects.
