Solidarity photo sessions to regain self-esteem: this is what professional photographers offered this Sunday, January 19 to women beneficiaries of Secours Populaire. They were given an appointment at the Polydôme in Clermont-Ferrand for a beauty treatment, then a photo session awaited them.

This Sunday, January 19, at the Polydôme in Clermont-Ferrand, for Angehimil, it is a special day. A day for her. It first passes through the hands of a professional makeup artist then through the expert fingers of a hairdresser. The young woman, who arrived from Venezuela three years ago, is not used to being taken care of like this. Angehimil Zharay Urbina Contreras, beneficiary of “Portraits of the Heart”, explains: “For me who doesn’t have the opportunity to go to the hairdresser, it’s perfect. It’s a great opportunity to feel good. I feel spoiled. I like it”.

Women beautified by professionals

Next step: the most important. The portrait. The photographer is also a pro, like everyone present today, so that these beneficiaries of Secours Populaire leave with the most beautiful image possible. Denis Grudet, president of the FFPMI Auvergne (French Federation of Photography and Image Professions), says: “This provides everything they don’t have the rest of the year: self-esteem, feeling beautiful for a day, even if they are beautiful all year round. There, they are surrounded by beauty professionals, they have their makeup and hair done. They also have their nails done. They are photographed by professionals, who give them a style to the image, with a style and gestures”.

A result that brightens faces

Indeed, when the printed photo arrives, the beneficiaries rejoice. Angehimil is enthusiastic: “Gorgeous. The photo is perfect. I think it highlights our beauty”. Aléna Pellé, Children and Youth manager at Secours Populaire 63, insists: “There are many women who are a little forgotten behind their role of wife, of mother. They are often sacrificed by daily life, having to take care of the house and the children. This day is here to tell them that as women, you exist and you are entitled to a moment of happiness for yourself”.
To see the faces light up, the objective has been achieved.
