Wouldn't it be every creator's dream to see their works put up for auction? Nearly 300 lots will be on Sunday November 10 and Monday 11, 2024, with the Arts and Design sale by Me Aymeric Rouillac, for the second time at the Palais des Congrès, during Art au Daily.
Eighth of the name, this sale will honor the iconoclastic artist Chomo (1907-1999), dear to the heart of the auctioneer who has just directed the first monograph dedicated to him. Ninety-nine works by Chomo will be on offer, starting at €500.
“This Grand Prix de Rome, with its radical approach, had turned its back on the consumer society. He used recycled materials and had an early environmental approach. He said he agreed to an exhibition at the Pompidou Center, on condition that he came with his hives…” The second day of the sale will include more classic works from the 20e century with big names including Lorjou, Jouve, Seyssaud, Debré, a bronze by Rembrandt Bugatti, faithful to the Fauves, but this one in the salon with the Marquis de Castellane. And a curiosity, an amphibious Hobbycar (without warranty), manufactured in Loir-et-Cher, in Thenay. But the business took on water. What remains is this beautiful demonstration example, estimated between €10,000 and €15,000.
