While the Cannes Film Festival is in full swing, Alain Chamfort spoke about his various experiences in the world of cinema and one director in particular left him with not only good memories.

Expected on the Croisette to give a small concert at the Jardin Sacem, on the sidelines of the Cannes Festival, singer Alain Chamfort defended his latest album entitled Impermanence. He made confidences in an interview for Nice morning. The discreet but popular singer, now 75 years old, took the opportunity to talk about his memories of Cannes and the cinema…

Alain Chamfort traumatized by this musical experience

Speaking to the local newspaper, the singer returned to his collaboration with the late director Jean-Pierre Mocky. Indeed, for the purposes of the film To death the referee (released in 1984), he agreed to compose the music for the feature film. But the experience turned sour because between the singer of the hit Manureva and the director renowned for his bad character, the flow did not get through… “It was disappointing, he didn’t know what he wanted. I did what I could and he stuck it in as he was told, without us really understanding why. The experience didn’t make me want to try again“, confided Alain Chamfort to Nice morning.

But the artist, who overcame bone cancer that he was diagnosed with in 2015, fortunately has other beautiful memories with the world of the 7th Art. Moreover, he has already had the honor of climbing the steps of the Palais des Festivals.

Alain Chamfort actor: this moment in Cannes which amused him

Indeed, Alain Chamfort was invited to the Cannes Film Festival in 2022 when he came to present the film Don Juan, directed by Serge Bozon. Alongside Virginie Efira and Tahar Rahim, he played The Quiet Man in the feature film. Despite the film’s huge success at the box office – around 50,000 spectators – he kept very good memories of this trip to the Croisette. “We had gone up the steps with the team from Don Juan, the film by Serge Bozon. Finding yourself so exposed in front of the hedge of photographers? It was fun“, he said.

Did this experience make him want to do a little more cinema? “I don’t go to castings, but every time a director thinks of me, it makes me happy“, added Alain Chamfort, who can currently be seen on the big screen in the film The stolen painting. No doubt we will see him again in other projects.
