Prince Carl Philip’s 45th birthday in nature

This May 13, 2024, Prince Carl Philip of Sweden celebrated his 45th birthday. The son of King Carl XVI Gustaf took advantage of this day to recharge his batteries in nature. His wife shared a photo of Prince Carl Philip in front of Ribbåsfallet, a waterfall in Princess Sofia’s home region.

Prince Carl Philip recharges his batteries in his wife’s home region for his 45th birthday

Prince Carl Philip of Sweden celebrated his 45th birthday on May 13, 2024. On the occasion of his birthday, Princess Sofia shared a photo of her husband during a hike in nature. Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia went to recharge their batteries in the forest of Dalarna County, near Älvdalen, the town where Sofia grew up.

Prince Carl Philip used to take his three children, Princes Alexander, Gabriel and Julian, to see their maternal grandmother who still lives in Älvdalen. In the photo shared by Princess Sofia, Prince Carl Philip poses in front of the Ribbåsfallet waterfalls. Älvdalen means “river valley”.

Prince Carl Philip is the second of three children of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. He is the only son. Born on May 13, 1977, two years after his sister Victoria, he was crown prince of Sweden at his birth, until December 31, 1979. On that date, Salic law was abolished in Sweden, in favor of the rule of succession of absolute primogeniture. Victoria became the heir to the throne.

Prince Carl Philip bears the title Duke of Värmland. On June 13, 2015, Prince Carl Philip married Sofia Hellqvist, a model and former reality TV show participant. The couple have three children. Prince Carl Philip is 4th in the line of succession to the Swedish throne. He works both for the Crown and also on professional projects. The prince founded a design agency which he runs with a friend. He is also a professional racing driver.
