Cannes: major brands refused to dress the team of “A Little Something Plus”

The entire team of the film “A Little Something Plus” will, in the coming days, climb the steps of the Cannes Film Festival, which will begin this Tuesday. The cast of Artus’ feature film – some of which is made up of actors with disabilities – will celebrate its current great success in theaters.

Guest of France Inter, Artus nevertheless gave a rant. Indeed, unlike most of the stars showing the tip of their noses at the Palais des Festivals, the actors with disabilities in “Un p’tit truc en plus” will not be dressed by famous brands. They refused to do so.

“It’s our film costume designers who are going to make them very beautiful costumes and it’s going to be very good (…) I don’t understand why. They tell us quota stories and tell us: ‘Ah, but we’ve already lent all our costumes’ (…) I think it’s always more elegant for a brand to dress Brad Pitt than to dress Artus, Already. But even more actors with disabilities,” he noted, dismayed.

This reminds Artus of the difficult times he experienced, when he was looking for financing for his feature film: “I was told things openly: that people did not want to see disabled people in the cinema .”

However, the director and actor is delighted to climb the famous steps of Cannes with his actresses and actors: “I wanted them to climb them, and I’ve been struggling with this for months. And now that the film has this success, I find it even more legitimate. What’s good is that they’re not going to come in like, ‘Who are they? We don’t know them’ on the steps, but like: ‘It’s the team from ‘Un p’tit truc en plus’. I’m happy that they’re arriving as a bit of a star at Cannes.”
