“I agreed with…”: after the chilling details of her sexual assaults, details from Juliette Binoche

In an interview with our colleagues at Libération, Juliette Binoche spoke about the difficult filming during which she experienced very humiliating moments with Jean-Luc Godard. But also a sexual assault on the part of the director Pascal Kané. “As he points out the view of the Seine front, he throws himself at me to kiss me. I pushed him away vigorously. I couldn’t believe it”she confided.

Then, there is also André Téchiné, widely recognized by his peers. And obviously the testimony of Juliette Binoche deeply moved him. Benoît Magimel’s ex-wife then decided to write him a message on Instagram. “Dear André, a friend met last night Thierry Klifa who told him that you were in the greatest despair. I’m sorry because that was obviously not my goal”she begins by explaining.

Juliette Binoche wishes to clarify

Juliette Binoche puts things in context: “I described in the Libé paper, some situations from my beginnings at a difficult time for young actresses”. If she encountered difficulties on the set of one of her films, it was not the filmmaker’s fault.

“Rendez-vous (film released in 1985) was one of these difficulties, but not with you. I knew the scenes I was going to shoot, written in the script and I agreed to throw myself into them. You don’t never forced me to do anything. The finesse of your directions whispered in my ear were precious to me and remain great moments in my history as an actress.

“You didn’t force me to do anything.”

Thus, Juliette Binoche refuses that the filmmaker thinks that he has behaved inappropriately. “You told me clearly that you no longer wanted to film only the actors’ heads but their bodies. I agreed with your desire to dare something new in your cinema. While not knowing how it was going to happen. Did you know that yourself?”

Juliette Binoche insists: You didn’t force me to do anything. There is a part of Libé’s interview that was not published where I talked about all that. I wanted to make sure I told you and let you know, because your name is not to be confused with others. I kiss you, I love you and always, Juliette.”
