Clint Eastwood is a star who needs no introduction. Representative of a golden age of Hollywood, illustrious in numerous classics of the small and big screen, the man who played Inspector Harry and distinguished himself in Sergio Leone’s “Dollars trilogy” has been nominated multiple times and above all multi-awarded during his career. In total, he has won four Oscars thanks to his productions as a director: he won the statuettes for Best Film and Best Director twice, in 1993 for Ruthless and in 2005 for Million Dollar Baby.
If Clint Eastwood is now 93 years old and has been an essential figure in the seventh art for almost seven decades, he is still working on his next film. Filming of this 40th feature film took place at the end of 2023, with Nicholas Hoult (Skins, The Great) in the main role opposite Toni Colette, Zoey Deutch or Chris Messina.
The release date for this trial film is not yet known, but Juror #2 already promises to be thrilling: while a man is a juror in a murder trial, he discovers that it is he who is behind the crime. A moral dilemma then presents itself: will he hide his involvement and manipulate the jury to protect himself, or confess and surrender?
For a time, some American media suggested that Juror #2 would be the last film of Clint Eastwood’s career before he retired. This was what the Hollywood Reporter said in April 2023, explaining that the director was looking for his last project before leaving the movie sets, with his head held high. But nothing is certain yet, since the American filmmaker was still saying at the time of the release of Cry Macho in 2020 that he was “probably going to continue” cinema.
To the Los Angeles Times, he recently added: “I have nothing against other filmmakers, but perhaps I bring a different vision, and I don’t want to regret and ask myself ‘but why did I entrust this project to this director?'” Regardless, the release of such a feature film will remain an event for movie buffs.
