Maïwenn: Her little sister Isild Le Besco reveals that they have cut ties, an “incompatibility” and accusations involved?

It’s an event book for her: at 41, actress and director Isild Le Besco is releasing her autobiography this Wednesday, May 1, Say true, in which she recounts the ups and downs of a life in color. From the violence, which often tainted his relationships, to his successes, including the influence of Benoît Jacquot, everything is addressed with transparency. A book that was read and accepted by his family, notably his brother, Jowan, his half-brother, Kolia and his half-sister, Leonor. All, except one: her older sister, Maïwenn, with whom relations are completely broken – according to our information, relations broken by Maiwenn… – according to our colleagues at Worldwho devote a portrait to the young forty-year-old.

A cut which is not recent: according to them, from the first pages of his book, Isild Le Besco tells an anecdote with his elder, director of Polish or Jeanne du Barry. In tears after a screening, she breaks down and makes her younger sister promise to stay close to her: “I love you, don’t blame me, don’t disappear“, she asks him. But today, all this is no longer relevant: “We have nothing to do with each other. I don’t want to be associated with her” declared Maïwenn on April 20 to the British online newspaper The Independent.

A very raw and violent response, which contrasts with the compliments of the other members of the siblings on the approach of Isild Le Besco and his autobiography: “Isild became fully aware of what she experienced. Before, she knew something was wrong. She’s sorting out her thoughts, she’s on the right track“, describes in particular Kolia, the youngest, when Jowan assures that he “fully supports“.”She’s not making things up. It’s very courageous of her, giving herself up like this is not natural for her, it’s difficult“, he explains.

Maïwenn, a second mother for Isild Le Besco

And that seems hard to manage for the youngest: “She is missing from our raft of survivors“, she writes about her big sister, who describes her eldest in her book as “a second mother” at the heart of their difficult childhood, marked by violent parents. But which can perhaps be explained by an awareness and a change in behavior, in recent years, on the part of Isild Le Besco.

As a child, Isild admired Maïwenn, it was close. But today there is an incompatibility between them, because Isild is no longer docile. And Maïwenn needs people who validate her way of being and doing“, estimates a friend of the two sisters. Unless it concerns the revelations of the mother of two teenagers in her book, and in particular about the relationship between Luc Besson and his sister in the early 90s.

Thinly veiled criticism

At the time of their meeting, while Luc Besson was already thirty years old, Maïwenn was only 15 years old. And Isild, at the time a child – she was 8 years old – did not hesitate to describe in her book a “relationship that continued to be unbalanced“. Very shocked by the paradox between “the comfort of sumptuous properties“of his brother-in-law and their”slum” as much as by their age difference, she describes a certain violence that she felt. But it is above all their breakup, while Maïwenn, not even 20 years old, has just given birth to their daughter Shanna, that she does not will never digest.

Luc embodied the dream of somewhere else, a way out which turned out to be a butchery“, she describes for The world. “In hindsight, it gives the impression that we were part of a film where Luc played the best role and where we were an extension of our older sister. And then he skipped the film“.

A question also remains unanswered: did she ask Maïwenn for permission to talk about her personal life? Today we read the feelings of Isild Le Besco, a child at the time. A way of seeing the story that probably didn’t really please her older sister.
