It’s a welcome he didn’t expect. Like every year on May 1, numerous events are organized throughout France. Raphaël Glucksmann wanted to join the procession of the one taking place in Saint-Etienne. However, as can be seen in images of France BlueLéa Salamé’s companion as well as the people who accompanied him were attacked. They were victims of paint being thrown and screams that can be heard: “Glucksmann get out of there” or “Palestine will live”. As a reminder, Raphaël Glucksmann is head of the PS-Place Publique list for the European elections. He quickly spoke up, denouncing “around fifty crazy people”, some of whom belong, according to his words, to the LFI party.

In a video published by the media, Raphäel Glucksmann spoke, saying: “It’s their idea of democracy, it’s not ours. We are fighting democrats, democrats to the core.” He also mentioned “flags of France Insoumise” among the people who prevented him from accessing the procession. “80% of tweets to France Insoumise are devoted to Raphaël Glucksmann and the PS-Place publique list. They have chosen their opponent,” he continued. Léa Salamé’s companion finally gave up joining the demonstration and left on his own.

Raphaël Glucksmann: an arrival that was very chaotic

Barely arriving on the scene, Raphaël Glucksmann had great difficulty moving forward. Before even joining the procession, around fifty people came to throw paint at him. He still tried to advance but, for several hundred meters, he was pursued by demonstrators who shouted: “PS bastard”, “Palestine will conquer” or “Saint-E is not yours”, in reference to the nickname of Saint-Etienne. According to information from an AFP journalist, Raphaël Glucksmann left with “stains of green paint on his forehead and red paint on his jacket.” He then spoke on his X account, formerly Twitter: “Violence will not pass!”he wrote.

The expulsion of Raphaël Glucksmann from the demonstration caused a lot of talk. There was in particular Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of the Insoumis, who spoke in turn. “I totally disapprove of the expulsion of Raphaël Glucksmann”, he began before continuing: “All those who want to pledge allegiance to the workers’ struggle for their rights have their place on May 1st. We just have to move away from them if we don’t like them”. Concerning the accusations against his party, Jean-Luc Mélenchon deplores: “This action provides a media diversion against May 1 and a victim role for Glucksmann who takes the opportunity to accuse us. The enemy is the extreme right.”

Raphaël Glucksmann: why is his partner talking about her?

Raphaël Glucksmann is not the only one to get people talking about him. For a few days, an extract from the show What an era is making the rounds on social networks. In this one we can see Léa Salamé describes comedian Artus as “boring”. The reason ? “I do lots of little extra things and it’s going much better,” he began before continuing: ”I stopped drinking, I stopped smoking…”. Enough to make Léa Salamé react: “Ah, you have become boring”, she said before continuing: “You are no longer anxious but you are boring”. Laughter was heard on the set but the main person concerned defended himself.

Following Léa Salamé’s remark, it was the comedian who spoke. “These kinds of remarks are very French,” he said before continuing: “Damn, it’s good not to drink alcohol necessarily”. For her part, the host was not convinced by this argument. “Ohlala, say so”, she declared. A bit annoyed by this exchange, Artus simply declared: “Fuck you. If I had said I was quitting coke, everyone would have said well done.” A sequence quickly went viral and, among Internet users, this bad joke did not get through. Many of them recalled the importance of not using drugs and alcohol in order to avoid taking any risks.
