Aurélie’s Gallery present No Landa new online photographic exhibition by the French-Danish artist Kiritin Beyer.

From a former penal colony in French Guiana to a sanatorium in New York Bay, Kiritin Beyer ventures into abandoned places armed with a 4×5 film camera. She captures how nature invades buildings and erases their painful past. His images evoke the collision between human experiences and the passage of time. They speak of forgetting and history, but also of life and the continuity of time.

His series is part of the “urbex” tradition (abbreviation for “urban exploration”). This activity, often illegal and dangerous, consists of exploring abandoned buildings and other forgotten places. Its origins date back to the 1960s; From a secret subculture shared by a few, it has grown in popularity over the years. Urbex today benefits from a community of enthusiasts who share their experiences on social networks, Internet forums and websites.

Beyond the thrill of danger and the lure of the unknown, urbex is about discovering the layers of history hidden beneath new construction or vegetation.

Kiritin Beyer was born in Copenhagen to a French mother and a Danish father. The five years she spent in as a model convinced her that she preferred to be behind the goal rather than in front. She arrived in New York in 2004 to continue her work as a photographer and director.

In 2012, Beyer won a film grant from BRIC (a Brooklyn-based arts foundation). His short film “Imagination is Creation” was nominated in the Arts category at the Emmy Awards. In 2014, she documented natural colors and pigments used in textiles, arts and the practice of Ayurveda in India. The resulting film, “A Trail of Pigment,” received BRIC’s B Free Award.

Kiritin Beyer now lives in Brooklyn, NY, and works as a photographer and videographer on various projects.

Aurélie’s Gallery was created in 2021 by Aurélie Jézéquel, former advertising and fashion producer. The online gallery and e-commerce platform celebrates the many talented photographers that Aurélie has met throughout her career.
