Several videos of the actor breaking the highway code have been posted on the web but this risk-taking is not without reason! After London, Tom Cruise decided to settle down in Paris. The 61-year-old actor is known for many of his roles but if there is one that sticks to him, it is that of Ethan Hunt. Already in 2018, the actor was seen riding his motorcycle to perform scenes during the filming of the sixth part of Mission Impossible – Fallout. Michel Gomez, delegate of the Cinema mission to the City of Paris, had at the time entrusted to our colleagues from Parisian that it was the “biggest shoot ever carried out in Paris”. In fact, the filming of this opus lasted no less than 36 days!

Indeed, it was on a motorbike and without a helmet, with a white flag attached to the back of his means of transport, that he was seen… A risk taken justified by the filming of Mission Impossible 8. This is not the only place where fans were able to film him since he was seen running on the Bir-Hakeim bridge located between the 15th and 16th arrondissements of the capital.

Seeing images of Tom Cruise running on the Bir-Hakeim bridge, some people wink at Fear in the city with the late Jean-Paul Belmondo. Christopher McQuarrie, director of Mission Impossible – Fallout had already confirmed its desire to make a nod to this great classic of French cinema. In an interview with our colleagues from Figarohe confided in July 2018: “There are a few nods to Jean-Paul Belmondo and Fear in the city. I love that movie. But the one who had the most influence on Impossible mission is the short film by Claude Lelouch, It was a meeting. Lelouch did exactly what I wanted to do: drive through Paris and at incredible speed. Today it would be totally illegal.”.
The filming of this new opus currently underway in Paris will follow the last Impossible mission released last year and called Dead Reckoning. This eighth part is scheduled for May 2025 although it was initially announced for June 2024. Following the writers’ and actors’ strike in Hollywood, filming had to be postponed. In recent months, we have observed filming in the capital multiplying due to the Paris Olympic Games which are fast approaching. In fact, it will be prohibited to film in the City of Lights between June and September.
