He sails around the world

#HERAULT With his cap on his head, Fabien Maury, 53, is making final preparations before embarking on the greatest adventure of his life. Aboard his sailboat moored in the port of Carnon (Hérault), he will attempt to sail around the world via the three Capes: Good Hope in South Africa, Leeuwin in Australia and Horn in Chile.

On Aubrac, photos that tell the world

#LOZERE For four days, hiking and photography enthusiasts meet on the Aubrac. And they are spoiled: until this Sunday, the Phot’Aubrac festival is taking place in Lozère.

A renowned event with 65 photographers exhibiting nature, animal and human images, on more than 14 sites, from Nasbinals to Peyre-en-Aubrac, to Laguiole or Saint-Urcize…, which attracts up to 25,000 visitors each year. “At first, I was asked why I wanted to exhibit photos here when you just have to look at the landscape around you. I replied that there were magnificent landscapes everywhere in the world.”says Jean-Pierre Montiel, the creator of the festival.

#JOB In the second quarter of 2024, private sector employment lost 1,440 jobs in Occitane. This represents a contraction of 0.1%, exactly the same level of decline as at the national level, according to figures from Urssaf Languedoc Roussillon.

Airbus acquires an XXL training center

# To meet the high demand in the aviation sector, which will need 600,000 new pilots over the next twenty years, Airbus is taking the lead. The aircraft manufacturer has just announced the construction of a new campus in dedicated exclusively to training.

The centre will thus strengthen the capacities of the Airbus Training Centre created 50 years ago. This “aviation training and air operations campus” should be operational by 2026. It will be able to accommodate up to 12 flight simulators (Full Flight Simulator), twice as many as the current one. The building with innovative architecture will be able to accommodate 10,000 trainees each year, pilots therefore, but also mechanics and structural specialists.

The new campus will be the largest of Airbus’ 15 pilot training centres worldwide. When it opens, the centre will have seven simulators. One for the A380, two for the A350, one for the A330neo, two for the A320 family and one for the A300-A310.

The prison condemned

#TOULOUSE The Toulouse administrative court of appeal has ruled in favor of Stella Bisseuil, a lawyer forced to remove her bra to enter the Seysses remand center, reports La Dépêche. At the entrance to the prison, the security gate had triggered an alarm.

Instead of offering him a physical search, the officers forced him to return to his car to undress. Mr. Bisseuil had denounced this situation as an attack on his dignity and a discriminatory measure. The Court ruled that the prison had not respected the rules on access for lawyers and that the rights of the defense had been violated.
