Orvault. World Menstrual Hygiene Day

On the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 28, the City of Orvault joined forces with the Departmental Council, very committed to this theme, to carry out two strong actions: offering a show on periods and participating to a solidarity collection of sanitary napkins.

They come back every month: the rules! Every 28 days for about 39 years, or about 500 times in a lifetime. In order to lift this taboo, the Department and the City are scheduling the “Chattologie” show on May 28 at 8 p.m. at the Théâtre de la Gobinière. A one-on-one presentation designed as an uninhibited conference, which says everything about periods: from the physiological aspect to false beliefs, including the “dirty” advertising treatment of blood and menstrual insecurity. Everything is documented, verified, and processed in a way that makes you laugh.

A collection of sanitary napkins: 1.7 million women in France encounter financial difficulties in obtaining sanitary protection each month. This still taboo phenomenon isolates them, excludes them and puts their health at risk. This is why the Department of Loire-Atlantique is organizing, from May 11 to 31, a collection of sanitary napkins with 12 associations and more than 70 partner municipalities, including the City of Orvault. The objective is to facilitate access to essential products for thousands of people in Loire-Atlantique, and to raise awareness of this equality issue.

To participate in this solidarity action, simply purchase and drop off your donation of sanitary towels at the CCAS reception (Town Hall, Bourg) or at one of the 130 collection points in the department.
