The three childminders from Abracada’MAM, the childminder house in Saint-Sulpice-d’Arnoult, organized a parent-child day in the green space behind the school and the village hall of the town, on Saturday May 4, aimed at a selected population: toddlers aged 0 to 4, their brothers and sisters, without forgetting parents.

“We are welcoming as many participants as last year, 80 people including 35 toddlers, and the great enthusiasm of the volunteers made our day easier to set up. Thank you to our mayor Lyliane Signat and Patrick Poch, his first deputy tourism delegate at the CdC Cœur de Saintonge, to the local childminders, to the Civic Hour volunteers and to the parents, around forty adults. They all got up to be there at 9:30 a.m.,” appreciates Julie Hérault.

Not a cry, not a cry

But the sky on May 4 was filled with inconsolable sadness! Too bad for the activities planned outside such as the sensory trail, the compost transfer area with its inhabitants, the treasure hunt map and even the culinary workshop and the shared picnic: everyone had to take refuge in the party room.

The attention of the 35 children was immediately captured by the show for young audiences created and performed by Julie de Oliveira and Luc Diabira: a musical awakening tale, “The Dream of Singalé”, which transported everyone to the Senegal River. Not a cry, not a cry during the 40 minutes where Julie’s miraculous voice accompanied balafon, hand pan, cymbal, ukulele as well as the top’one of nurseries, the djembe. The rain stick and the ocean drum imitated in a hushed atmosphere the sound of the swell and the waves and the mysterious sounds captivating the audience did wonders. Even the parents clapped along to the nursery rhymes.

Since 2020, the Saint-Sulpice MAM has welcomed up to 12 children, some of whom have disabilities. Kindness, free motor skills, development, MAM can be reached on 06 58 97 68 65.
