The fire which broke out this Saturday afternoon on the site of the Kronospan wood processing company in Sanem around 2:40 p.m. left two people injured. This is what the CGDIS announced this Saturday evening in a press release. Two other people were directly supported by the CCGDIS. 80 firefighters from seven fire and rescue centers were mobilized to put out the fire.

“The first units of the CGDIS, upon their arrival, faced a fire in a hall which had spread to neighboring installations. At 6:00 p.m. the fire was completely under control, but teams remained on site in order to check that all the residues of the fire are extinguished, particularly in places difficult to access at height,” declares the CCGDIS.

The company is located on a closed site in the Gadderscheier industrial zone. The mayor of the municipality of Sanem Simone Asselborn-Bintz (LSAP), as well as agents from the Water Management Administration (AGE) and CREOS visited the site according to the CGDIS. A spokesperson for the CCGDIS had indicated to the Wort at the end of the day that a machine caught fire.

Last February, a chemical leak in the Gadderscheier industrial zone caused the hospitalization of seven people.

Already in August 2019, firefighters had to fight for 48 hours to extinguish a fire which took place on the Kronospan site in Sanem.
